2.2 Domestic food policies

This workshop identifies the major themes in future domestic food policy, such as food safety, food security, food quality, health, sustainability and animal welfare. The first pre-senter analyses the French case as an example of how food policy may look like. In the dis-cussion, the main themes involved will be identified. The workshop also analyses the organi-zation of food policy. What actors are involved? What Ministries play a role and how is the co-ordination between the Ministries organized? What are the responsibilities of the food supply chain and the respective actors in the supply chain? What is the future role of the gov-ernment? Can participatory policy making improve the co-ordination between public and pri-vate actors? How does one construct successful participatory food policies?
